Mussorgsky Pictures at an Exhibition
Melody Eötvös The Saqqara Bird

About this performance

Guided by conductor and MSO Cellist Nicholas Bochner, we’ll explore Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition, a work that has captured the imagination of all who hear it. Originally written for solo piano, it has been orchestrated many times, including this colourful rendition by Walter Goehr.

Continuing the exploration of things artistic, Melody Eötvös's magical work, The Saqqara Bird, about a mysterious ancient Egyptian object, is lyrical and thematically organised and aims to capture something imaginative and fictional in its Pinocchio-like metamorphosis.
