About this performance

Nature’s ability to inspire and rejuvenate is celebrated in this program led by MSO Chief Conductor Jaime Martín.

  • Australian composer Maria Grenfell’s River Mountain Sky celebrates a Tasmania’s landscape of rivers and mountains over the course of a day – orange and pink skies at dawn and dusk, bright sunshine bouncing off rushing water and quiet, clear, dark nights under a tapestry of stars.
  • Rising star María Dueñas has performed as a soloist with top orchestras in Europe and America, been named one of the BBC’s New Generation Artists, and just signed with Deutsche Grammophon! Here she performs Beethoven’s Violin Concerto with her trademark passionate virtuosity and commanding stage presence.
  • Inspired by the folk music of Bohemia, Czech composer Dvořák's pastoral Fifth Symphony is a musical distillation of the landscape of his homeland and a joyful ode to its beauty, quirks, and natural features.

Duration: approx. 2 hours including interval
